IEBC Sets Mass Voter Registration On This Month As It Introduced This New Commission Members Today

Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission is an independent body entitled with holding general elections in Kenya. During the media brief today, IEBC appeals to security organs to collaborate with the commission to ensure there is safe environment as it conducts it's general elections come 2022. It has enrolled four new commission members namely Juliana Cherera, Irene Masit, Justus Nyang'au and Francis Wanderi.

The commission has called the need for timely and sufficient disbursement of funds to facilitate implementation of planned programmes as the commission continues to plan for the 2022 general elections. Further the commission has noted with concern the political activities happening prior to declaration of campaigns for the General Election which has been causing unnecessary havoc in the country. The commission appeals to political players to avoid this trend and comply with the set out guidelines.

The commission plans to carry out Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR) activity in the month of October 2021 for a period of 30 days. In this exercise IEBC targets to register at least six million new voters at the County Assembly Ward Level. The commission urges all eligible Kenyans who have not registered as voters to turn up in large numbers and register.
