VIDEO: Drama as Tanzanian MP Breaks Into Tears While in Parliament Due to COVID-19

Tanzanian lawmaker left the whole parliament in shock after breaking into tears while presenting his views.

Peter Lijualikali of the opposition party, Chama cha Demokrasia na Maendeleo (CHADEMA), on Monday started crying and sobbing while addressing the problems he was facing in his party and COVID-19 issues.

The young parliamentarian said his party leaders predicted more COVID-19 deaths inside the parliament to justify their reason why the barred its members from attending the house session.

Some few weeks ago, CHEDEMA barred its members from attending the parliament sessions after some MPs from the house passed on after they got infected with the deadly coronavirus.

Peter Lijualikali is one of the MPs who ignored the party warning and attended the sessions.

On Monday, he left fellow MPs in shock after he opened up on the sufferings he was getting from his party.

"Nimefungwa miezi 6 kwasababu ya CHADEMA, leo nakuja kutimiza wajibu wangu naambiwa kisa posho, tunalilia Katiba mpya ya Nchi wakati ya kwetu tunaivunja, walitegemea ndani ya wiki mbili hizi kuna Wabunge watakufa ili ionekane waliona tatizo” he said in a video shared by Millard Ayo, loosely translating to:

(I have been jailed for six months because of my CHEDEMA party, today I am attending this session as my responsibility I was given by my people but the party says I have been bribed to do so. We want a new constitution yet we break ours of the party. They expected within two weeks more MPs to die of COVID-19 for them to justify their reasons for banning us from attending the sessions).

Still, on COVID-19 in parliament, some lawmakers have recovered from the disease. Kinondoni MP Maulid Mtulia is one of the MPs who have recovered from the killer disease.
