Tension As JKIA And Borders Are Sealed In Search Of Missing Jubilee Billionaire

The Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and the Kenya borders have been sealed with multi-agency teams deployed at the said point to track down a wanted billionaire who is attempting to flee the country.

Security has been heightened at the checkpoints after a warrant of arrest was issued against prominent Jubilee businesswoman Mary Wambui Mungai who has been accused of contempt of court for failing to honour a court summon in a Ksh 2.2 billion tax evasion case.

Her daughter Purity Mungai also failed to appear in court to take a plea in the case with the two now marked as fugitives and a multi-agency team has now been deployed to track them minutes after magistrate Felix mutinda ordered the duo be apprehended and brought to court.

The billionaire was said to be well connected within the country as seen by the state tenders and contracts won in the past. Some of these include procuring supplies for the military and the Kenya Medical Supplies Agency (KEMSA).

Her cases have dragged in court since 2014 when she was accused of tax fraud. Efforts to arraign her have backfired after she failed to take a plea a number of times.
