State Capture? Questions Raised as President Ruto's Allies Take Over Kenya Power

President William Ruto's UDA allies have taken over Kenya Power and Lighting Company. It has now been confirmed that

Former Nairobi County Executive Committee Member Veska Kangogo who unsuccessfully ran for the Uasin Gishu UDA ticket for governor is now the new director of Kenya Power.

The Star reports that all former Kenya Power directors who were defending their positions on the board were kicked out in an election that shareholders were allowed to vote on Friday.

President William Ruto's key allies won elections as shareholders kicked out Vivienne Yeda as chairman of the board.

In a statement from Kenya Power shared with the public on Saturday, the new director Kangogo garnered a total of 980,732,882 votes to become one of the seven directors.

Others who were elected by shareholders included Brenda Masinde who garnered 982,289,124 votes, Logan Hambrick(983,462,853), Albert Mugo(985,278,960) and Duncan Ojwang' who scored 1,002,565,056 votes.

It should be noted that in the last general election, city lawyer Dr Duncan Ojwang' was part of Ruto's presidential petition legal team and who has been a frequent TV commentator.

It remains unclear whether President Ruto played a role in his allies being elected by Kenya Power shareholders.
