The message Mwalimu Dida shared on Twitter sent shock waves through Kenya's political sphere. Never before has a Kenyan been put through such a rigorous test with many feeling like President Ruto had taken a political witch hunt too far. But Dida took a different perspective, making a case for Matiang'i's standing in the upcoming election and arguing that even prison time could be beneficial in terms of long-term popularity.
Drawing comparisons to Mandela and Kenyatta, two figures held in high regard throughout the African continent, Dida suggested that Ruto was giving Matiang'i the same opportunity to rise to greatness. It remains to be seen if Matiang'i will become the first minority President of Kenya in the future, but one thing is for certain - his supporters are galvanized and eager to see how the events of the day play out.
