IEBC Chair Wafula Chebukati, 2 Others Commissioners Finally Announces Their Exit Together.

According to recent news, Wafula Chebukati, the chairperson of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, and two other commissioners have officially announced their departure from the electoral body while also saying goodbye to the IEBC workforce.

On January 17, 2022, the tenure of two further commissioners, Boya Molu and Abdi Guhliye, will end.

In advance of the release of the Post Election Evaluation Report for the 9th General Election, the three commissioners made the announcement at the IEBC post election meetings last meeting. According to reports, the report will debut on January 9, 2023.

The Commission considered the successes and difficulties in the previous electoral cycle throughout the meetings. Participants also suggested areas for improvement as the Commission works tirelessly to further Kenya's democracy.

As a result of Vice Chairperson Juliana Cherera, Francis Wanderi, Irene Masit, and Justus Nyangaya's suspension by President William Ruto, the IEBC will no longer have any commissioners.

Later, Cherera, Justus Nyangaya, and Francis Wanderi submitted their resignations from the panel. The commission of investigation established to look into their behavior in the General Elections of August 9 is continuing investigating Irene Masit.
