Over the past two months, the Kenya Kwanza bridge has continuously attacked president Uhuru's administration for intentionally increasing the prices of basic commodities.
While responding to why food prices has been hiking, the Orange Democratic Movement party secretary general, Edwin Sifuna has pointed out that the hiking prices of foods are due to both domestic and international factors.
On international factors, the Nairobi County senatorial aspirant has pointed that war between Ukraine and Russia has affected the import of palm, special seeds that is used in production of cooking oil. This inturn has resulted to high price of cooking oil.
On domestic factors, Honourable Edwin Sifuna has pointed that top government officials and cartels are responsible for high prices of food products. While referring to Arror and Kimwarer Dams, the ODM secretary general has accused corruption as one major factor that has caused high prices of maize grains and maize products that is currently witnessed in the country. He stated that the two dams could be used for irrigation, hence would ensure massive production of maize.
