Mombasa governor Hassan Joho is serving his last term in office. In his last term, the governor has focused on building international networks and bilateral relations with different countries. He has visited various countries in the last three months.
Yesterday he visited South Sudan for a series of meetings in the country. The stylish governor was warmly received by South Sudan president Salva Kiir Mayardit at his official office in Juba. The governor was accompanied by delegates from Mombasa county.
The two delegations discussed various issues of mutual interest. They discussed a wide range of investment opportunities in South Sudan to the business community of Mombasa and Kenya. They also discussed how to strengthen bilateral relations between South Sudan and Kenya.
Mombasa county has been attracting various oversee tourist due to his tourist attracting sites. The county has also airport which facilitates quick transportation of oversee tourists to the county. The sector is currently facing problems due to the current COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.
Various senior government officials from South Sudan were present in the meeting. The leaders includes minister of finance and planning Hon. Athian Diing, governor of bank of South Sudan Hon. Dier Tong, deputy commissioner general of national revenue authority Hon. Africano Mande, executive director in the office of president Hon. James Dery Wal, chairman of South Sudan chamber of commerce, industry and agriculture Dr. Benjamin Mel.
