In August next year the country will move to a new chapter. 59 years since our forefathers made us a sovereign state, we will usher in our 5th President. President Uhuru will hand over instruments of power to his successor to continue the journey of building a perfect nation.
As President Uhuru will be saying goodbye after years of service to the country, many Kenyans will fondly remember the projects he completed as a president. Some will feel his efforts as they drive through well tarmacked roads. Others will be filled with nostalgia as they take only four hours to travel from the capital to Mombasa.
While traffic jam in Nairobi still remains problematic, the president has done his best to ease congestion. Under his leadership, express roads have been constructed and even state of the art parking systems. He has also connected the capital city to a rail network.
Uhuru Kenyatta has become a president of many firsts. He is the first president of this republic to build new railway system since independence. Yesterday he also set history by opening the first post independence port in Kenya.
The president has not left any region out of his development agenda. Even areas where he did not receive massive support during campaigns have benefited immensely. Almost each part of Kenya can point out a legacy that the president has left on their backyard. Thank you for your service Mr President.
