Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has suspended elections in four wards meaning that elections will not take place in the affected areas.
"We shall communicate via a Gazette notice when said elections will be conducted," the Commission chairperson Wafula Chebukati said in a Gazette Notice dated July 25.
The wards include the Thaana ward in Mwingi West, Kitui County,Oloimasani ward, Emurua Dikir Constituency in Narok,South Gem in Gem, Siaya and Utawala ward in Embakasi East .
The four wards will have to wait for the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission to issue a notice on when the elections will be carried out after the death of the candidates.
This comes days after the same commission disclosed that they might be forced to suspend boring in areas where there are disputes.
The Commission’s chairman Wafula Chebukati pointed out that delay in finalizing the 31 dispute cases which were pending at the courts might affect critical processes which will in turn compromise the conduct of the exercise.
“If for any reason they are not finalized in good time then as a commission we cannot wait forever. We shall be forced to suspend the elections in those areas where decision are made that affect the printing of ballot papers,” he stated.
