President William Ruto Left Bank Governors Laughing After Using Opaque Word In His Context.

President William Ruto has made bank executives laugh with his remark about online betting companies that are currently operating in Kenya.

The president applauded the move to regulate online betting companies while delivering his speech in the presence of Central Bank of Kenya governor Patrick Njoroge, Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa, and other bank officials.

"I'm also happy that you CBK governor are bringing into the regulation space our online betting companies because we also want them to pay taxes," said President William Ruto.

He also made the audience laugh when he said that most betting companies operate in an opaque environment, and that they need to be fully regulated by the central bank to ensure they are carrying out their activities in a transparent manner.

"At the moment they are operating in a space that is opaque (laughter). I know opaque has many connotations lately and not very positive ones but that space needs much more clarity. I'm happy that central bank of Kenya is taking steps to bring the actors in the online betting space to regulation," added President William Ruto.
