Alarm has been raised over Deputy President William Ruto's campaign funds following allegations made by an ODM County chairman during Raila Odinga's Ashimio la Umoja campaign in Turkana County on Thursday.
The second in command has been on record dishing out cash in millions to churches, women and youth groups in most of his stopovers in different towns during his ongoing visits to different counties, a move that has already resulted to critism from his critics including ODM leader Raila Odinga.
Now, corruption related accusations aside, an alarm has been raised after Turukana ODM chairman Mzee Rosaro alleged that DP Ruto's campaign money are siphoned from Turkana County government.
Mzee Rosaro claimed that Turkana County governor Josphat Nanok, who recently switched gears from ODM party to Ruto-linked UDA Party, is secretly supporting Ruto's campaigns using the County funds meant for tenders at the expense of helpless Turkana residents. He claimed that Governor Nanok has nothing in his possession except the 'stolen' funds that he has been taking to DP Ruto in secret.
"Hakuna kitu Nanok anamiliki hapa Turkana isipokuwa ile ameiba. Pesa ya tenders ndo anabeba kwa wheelbarrow anapelekea Ruto. Ile pesa Ruto anafanyia campaigns ni yetu ya Turkana County," Rosaro said which losely traslates to;
"Their is totally nothing Nanok possess here in Turkana except what he has stolen. The County's tender money is what he carries in wheelbarrows to Ruto. Ruto's campaign money is ours."
The chairman promised to marshall support against the incumbent Governor to ensure that he does not get anywhere near the County powers come 2022.
"Tunakuekea kura na kipande tuone Nanok anapitia wapi. Kwa uwezo wetu hatapata kitu. Kuleni pesa lakini kura ni kwa ODM," he said which losely traslates to;
"We have kept our IDs and votes to ensure Nanok does not get any post. We will do all we can to ensure he does not get any post."
