People Daily Newspaper Apologizes to Judge Hatari

The people daily newspaper has been forced to apologize after erring in one of their stories they published on July 6, 2015. In the story, the newspaper reported that a chief magistrate by the name Hatari Waweru was involved in the production of second-generation liquor that was ruined the lives of many youths in Kiambu County.

On their August 31 publication, the newspaper apologized to the high court judge arguing the story was poorly done.

“We also acknowledge we failed on our due diligence by not reaching out to the judge for comment on the false claims by politicians”

The people daily newspaper is owned by the Media Max Network Limited, with President Uhuru Kenyatta, who is reported to have high shares in the company’s ownership.

What caught the attention of Opera News is the name of the judge (Hatari) which means dangerous in Swahili. Did people daily apologize after reading out loud the full names of the judge or what?
