Ukambani leaders from different parties meet for a unity meeting ahead of 2022 polls

Regional politics has dominated Kenya's politics for a long time. Every region in Kenya has a political kingpin who advocates for their interests at the national level. Ukambani region has been led by former vice president Kalonzo Musyoka for a long time. New leaders from the region and are trying to ouster Kalonzo Musyoka from the region kingship position.

Today Ukambani leaders met for unity meeting ahead of the next general election. The leaders discussed how the community can be united to be part of the next national government. They also discussed how to register new voters and revamp South Eastern Kenya economic bloc.

The leaders were drawn from different political parties. They promised to unite the region ahead of 2022 polls. The leaders were led by Makueni governor Kivutha Kibwana and UDA chairman Johnstone Muthama. Several MCAs also attended the unity meeting.

The unity meeting was called by Ukambani leadership forum. The forum is led by ABC Archbishop Timothy Ndambuki. The body consists of Akamba Council of elders, Akamba clans governing council and association of Ukambani church leaders.
