William Ruto's UDA Risk Prosecution For Animal Cruelty

Deputy President William Ruto and his United Democratic Alliance affiliated party could be staring at trouble and a warning has been sounded by the Union of Veterinary Practitioners Kenya to stop branding animals using their party colours.

According to the Union who issued a statement cautioning UDA for what they termed as animal cruelty for branding animals as cruelty to the creatures and warned that the use of animals for political campaigns was against the law and promised that action will be taken against politicians who actively engage in the practice.

"The Union has noted with concern the rise in cases of cruelty to animals for political reasons. The prevention of cruelty to animals Act Cap 360 Part II Section 1-4 of the laws of Kenya clearly stipulates what constitutes animal cruelty.” reads part of the statement.

The vets warned that animal owners equally faced prosecution if they engaged in branding the animals as they urged both politicians and animal owners to respect the rights of animals.

The statement comes on the eve of the Deputy President William Ruto pictured receiving a goat from residents in Gilgil Nakuru county that had been painted with the colour and had the name UDA written on it.
