A number of residents from Mount Kenya Region who were supporting Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 presidential bid under the United Democratic Alliance party have decamped to ODM.
Addressing the new members and defectors from Chugwa House in Nairobi, the county's Woman Representative Esther Passaris claimed that the 'Railaphobia' that was previous experienced in Mont Kenya is now fading, and the residents are ready to support Raila Odinga for his presidential bid.
"The Kikuyu's know where they want to go. We have love in ODM, and you are all welcomed. Ensure that you register during the mass registration ongoing. We are hopeful that Baba will take this country to the next level."
Expressing their opinions, some of the defectors claimed that they had been dubbed in joining UDA after ditching their support for Jubilee party, and are excited that they had finally found a place to call home.
This comes at a time when Raila has been making in roads across the vote rich region, although he is yet to officiate his presidential bid.
