This is a long awaited day for Mahoo ward (Taita Taveta County) residents as they are going to get their ward representative by the end of the day. This is after their MCA Ronald Sagurani died early this year.
The seat is highly contested as Daniel Kimuyu from united Democratic alliance party UDA is battling with Fundi Banton from jubilee who is also endorsed by ODM party leader. Others aspirants includes from tujibebe wakenya party headed by former Kiambu county governor honourable William Kabogo.

The competition has been termed as a battle between the president Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy. A win for the DP in the by-election will be a starting point for his UDA and Hustler movement gaining popularity in the region.
As polling stations are about to be closed, a target of nearly 6000 residents are expected to turn out so that they can be part of the next leadership.
