Final sendoff of Mukami Kimathi

The widow of freedom fighter ,Field Marshal Dedan Kimathi ,Mukami Kimathi is dead.

Mukami was among the Mau Mau fighters detained at Kamiti Maximum Prison during the struggle for independence.

She was instrumental in the struggle that helped Kenya gain its independence from the white colonialists.

Mukami passed away on Thursday night at age of 96 ,while receiving treatment at a hospital in Nairobi .She developed breathing difficulties .

Mukami recently received financial aid from President William Samoei Ruto's administration .This cleared a sh 1.3 million hospital bill.

During the funeral of Mukami ,the President assured that the government will launch an official search of her husband's remains .The body's remains are believed to have been buried at the Kamiti Maximum prison by colonial masters .

The colonial masters had executed Dedan Kimathi in 1957.

This fullfills the wish of the late Mukami Kimathi ,who had wished to have her husband exhumed for a descent burial .
