The counting of votes for the presidential election started last evening and it is ongoing as more votes stream from different polling stations. The process that started smoothly has however left Kenyans confused after different media channels started to display different results yet they were airing the same election.
This has caused confusion that Kenyans can't tell who they should trust. Yvonne Okwara who is a top journalist at Citizen TV has however come out to clear the doubts being experienced on the presidential candidates. According to her, different media houses are tallying from different sections and some are faster than others. Therefore, this has resulted to different results being displayed.
"We are taking the forms from the public portal and collating those numbers. If our numbers differ from other media houses it is because we count differently. Some are slower some are faster." Okwara said in a statement
You should therefore not worry if you see some results different from what you saw somewhere. They are eventually going to be similar when all the votes have been counted. Stay tuned to continue receiving more updates of the elections.
