Kenya Left Out as Museveni, Suluhu Sign Ksh 400B Deal

The deal to build Uganda’s oil pipeline through Tanzania instead of Kenya was signed on Sunday, March 11 during President Suluhu’s maiden trip to Uganda as head of state. 

Kenya lost out on the deal after Uganda raised concerns about the feasibility of the pipeline going through Kenya.

Excellencies, ladies and gentlemen. Our region is well endowed with abundant natural resources, which includes oil, gas, minerals, the vast number wildlife and plants, as well as livestock in marine ecosystems.

“We cannot segregate ourselves like an island, but also we cannot blindly accept what is being brought forward to us (on COVID-19) without carrying out our own investigations and inputs,” she told officials at State House in the commercial capital Dar es Salaam. “Let us have a stance.”
