Kisumu Governor Professor Anyang’ Nyong’o is nearing the end of his first term.

God willing, he will be in the race to defend his seat, during next year’s general polls.

As the election date continues to draw near, the County boss has been up and down in the Lakeside County, inspecting ongoing development projects ‘here and there’.

On Wednesday, Nyong’o was at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) popularly known as Russia to inspect various projects, among them the comprehensive cancer treatment centre, the neurosurgery recovery ward, the plastic surgery ward and the new state of the art JOOTRH funeral home.

“Many of these projects are either ready or are 95% complete. Congratulations to my staff at JOOTRH led by CEO Dr George Rae,” the Governor posted on facebook.

During the JOOTRH visit, the Governor, like on most occasions was dressed in a Kaunda suit, prompting one of his followers to nickname him ‘Professor Kaunda suit.’

“Prof Kaunda suit,” wrote one Abok Abok. That nickname now adds to Nyong’o’s long list of nicknames, which include Wuod Mary (Son of Mary), Tich Tire (Work is being done) and Wuod Seme (Son of Seme).

Before being elected Governor in 2017, he held various public positions among them the MP for the defunct Kisumu Rural Constituency, Minister for Medical Services and Secretary General, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party.
