EALA MP Kanini Kega has alleged that Ruto’s close friends wanted to betray Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. Kega says that Kenya Kwanza had agreed to have two leaders from Mt Kenya elected to EALA but when the final nomination list was finally tabled the Mt Kenya leaders had been replaced.
He says that the decision angered Rigathi who went through back door to ask lawmakers in the National Assembly to talk to MPs to help him get some leaders from Mt Kenya. According to Kanini, Maina Karobia and Iringo Kubai had been nominated to represent Mt Kenya in EALA.
However, during the parliamentary group meeting Rigathi learnt that the two leaders had been replaced with David Sankok and Falhada Dekow. Kega says that Rigathi felt betrayed because the deal was not acted upon. He has observed that the DP quickly acted and asked lawmakers from Mt Kenya not to forget contenders who were coming from Mt Kenya.
The EALA issue has exposed rifts within the Kenya Kwanza coalition with a number of leaders who want to remain anonymous saying that things are no longer the same between President William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua. Gachagua has also refuted the claims that they have problems within the coalition saying it is a creation of the media.
