Reports Indicate Familiy Agonized Over How To Tell Kibaki's 107-Year-Old Sister About His Death

Kenya is currenly mourning the death of its third President Mwai Kibaki. Kibaki died at the Nairobi Hospital where he was taken after his health greatly deteriorated. Even though Kibaki was at one time the President, his siblings lived humble lives in Othaya. They lived the life of ordinary farmers and sometimes the late President visited them and was spotted outside their humble homes.

Recently, the Standard Newspaper crew visited his 107-year-old sister Waitherero to find out how they were fairing. At the homestead, they found Waitherero's son Githinji. However, Githinji claimed that he was not ready to talk to the media since he had not broken the news to his mother.

He was quoted saying that, "We are not ready to talk about this matter because it is weighty and we have not even communicated this to my mother. We don't know how she will take it bearing in mind that age is also catching up with her."

It is true that it will be very devastating for Waitherero to hear that her younger brother is no longer with us. However, she will eventually know what has happened since you can't hide forever such a critical piece of information.
