Setback To National Assembly Over Juliana Cherera Petition

The four petitions against the four Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission comprising vice chairperson Juliana Cherera, Irene Masit, Justus Nyang'aya, and Francis Wanderi are before the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee (JLAC).

The commissioners were accused of gross misconduct, violation of the law, and misuse of office after they disowned the Presidential results announced by Chairperson Wafula Chebukati.

However, Juliana Cherera on Monday skipped the petition hearing before the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee. She is a respondent and is required to defend herself but she sent her lawyer Mr. Mboya.

The petition hearing is ongoing at the City hall and the National Assembly suffers a major setback as the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance allied Members of Parliament, respondent Juliana Cherera, and the Azimio-allied members of the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee failed to show up for the exercise.

Consequently, this seems to be hard for the hearing to go on in their absence.
