The battle for various seats in the the upcoming general election has gathered maximum momentum as various aspirants make huge investments for the ultimate prize.

The desire to increase presence in every region where there are potential voters has birthed the idea of using expensive helicopters which have made movement very Easy.

Helicopters can be hired or bought depending on the financial muscle of the candidate involved.

The cost of buying a brand new helicopter is upwards of KSH 200000 before factoring in local registration charges.

According to Kenya civil aviation authority (KCAA) statistics, 325 choppers were imported in 2021 as compared to 67 which were imported the year earlier.

For the politicians who can't afford to buy, they can hire at a cost of between KSH 150000 to 170000 per hour for a helicopter with the capacity to carry three passengers.

For higher capacity choppers, the price may go up to KSH 250000.

Besides the choppers, aspirants have to invest in billboards and high end cars for their campaigns.

Kenyan election is one of the most expensive exercise but unfortunately, the politicians rejected IEBC's plans to cap campaign expenditures that would have made life easier for those who may not afford.
