Rarieda lawmaker Paul Otiende Amollo has said that public health care is an entitlement for every citizen in his condolences message following the death of Tanzania's president John Magufuli. According to Otiende Amollo, all leaders should work together to ensure that the country has affordable and accessible public healthcare services. Further, the Rarieda MP has urged Kenyans to listen to professionals especially on healthcare issues even as the country continue to battle the Corona virus pandemic.
In Otiende Amollo's view healthcare should not be a preserve on a minority few but is a right of every tax payer. The Covid-19 pandemic has exposed gaps in access to healthcare services in the country where rich politicians and wealthy people get preferential treatment or access costly private hospitals while the public hospital remain with little attention.
Additionally, Otiende Amollo allude to the burden of Covid-19 on poor people and the general public on access to hospital facilities such as ICU beds and ventilators. However, Otiende Amollo has a duty together with other members of parliament to ensure that's public health services are managed properly and that they get adequate allocation of resources from national and county governments.
