Regarding the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission's announcement of the newly elected president candidate, Kenya is currently experiencing conflicting reactions (IEBC). This comes after the election that was held on Tuesday, August 9 by the independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.
The official announcement of the presidential results was made today, Monday, August 15, by Wafula Chebukati, the chairman of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC). The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party's William Samoei Ruto, the outgoing vice president, was recognized by Chebukati as the legitimate presidential candidate. Former prime minister and Azimio candidate Raila Amollo Odinga came in second. Professor George Luchiri Wajackoya, the leader of the Roots party, and Wahiga Mwaure, the leader of the Agano party, finished second and third, respectively.
Before the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) announced the results of the presidential election, Deputy President William Samoei Ruto and Professor George Luchiri Wajackoya of the Roots party met. He greeted DP Ruto and said, "Wewe pia ni mwanaume."
