Kiagu ward in Mount Kenya region has apparently turned into political turmoil after enraged residents started protesting against the leader of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party William Ruto. The angry Mount Kenya residents have accused the second in command of colluding with the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) against their will ahead of the coming Kiagu ward by-elections.

According to popular Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party blogger, Disembe Dikembe, the angry residents accused DP Ruto of paying the electoral body Ksh 500,000 in order to bar Moses Kuria's Chama Cha Kazi candidate from the next by-election. This comes after Moses Kuria also made similar accusations against UDA party which barred his candidate from the Kiagu ward by-elections. The legislator made the post through his official Facebook page.

According to several reports, the Gatundu South Member of Parliament has declared that he will take to High Court in order to seek legal justice against the UDA party. The residents took to the streets with anti-Ruto slogans as they expressed their anger and discontent with William Ruto’s party by burning car tyres as they cautioned the Deputy President against setting foot in Mount Kenya region. This is due to his alleged corrupt ways of handling issues instead of exercising fairness in the party's nominations.

Blogger Dikembe wrote that residents of Kiagu in South Imenti, accused UDA of working with the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to keep Moses Kuria's candidate out of the elections. The renowned blogger questioned William Ruto’s supporters why the Mount Kenya people are protesting if UDA is indeed popular as the Tanga Tanga political allies claim. He added that the people should be left to make their own decision without being bribed or tricked through unprecedented means.
