After a Meru resident, Salesio Mutuma, a former senatorial candidate, moved to court on Thursday to obtain orders to push the Meru MCAs to oust Mwangaza on the grounds of gross misconduct and abuse of office, the Meru gubernatorial elect today appeared before the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and defend herself against the allegations.

Before the committee, the Governor has denied having received an official warning from the EACC over alleged contravention of Chapter six of the Constitution.
The allegations against the governor accused her of hiring her two sisters as her aides, her husband, Murega Baicu, as the County youth patron and Hustler Ambassador, and her sister as her personal bodyguard.
She added, and I quote, "I have served with my sister since I was the Meru County women representative and by then there were no claims that she was a relative I employed, my other sister is employed by public service commission and I'm entitled to them both; people should stop misleading the public that I'm being nepotic."
