Ex-Lake Basic Development Authority Board Chair Indirectly Criticizes Raila as he Ditches ODM Party

Former Lake Basin Development Authority (LBDA) board chairman Odoyo Owidi has ditched the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party which is led by the Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

Odoyo who has been a life member of the party, member number 001704, and a fierce defender of Raila resigned from the party saying that there is no democracy.

As quoted in a report by the Star, Odoyo claimed that the party whose foundation was democracy had degenerated to a one-man show, and those who has an upper hand in the party had connections with the officials or top leadership.

Odoyo further argued that the party has been using 'democratic' in an opaque manner since it stopped conducting elections, and started giving direct nominations to select few who are either close friends or relatives.

"The top party officials had their close blood relatives and friends hand party election or even direct nomination tickets to the various assemblies and also MCAs, MPs, governor and senators," he said citing the ODM National Elections Board whose name was the first to be forwarded to IEBC for nomination to parliament.

He also alleged that the party had never restructured to deal with the reasons they have been failing to win the presidency or end wrangles in the outfit which emerge after every election.
