Kenyans React To CS Matiang'i Move To Change 10th October To Be Huduma Day

Kenyans have on Friday 9th October woke up to a surprise. This was after the realisation that Cabinet Secretary for Interior Fred Matiang'i had changed the name of a public holiday. This is not the first time CS Fred Matiang'i has done so. Today, he had changed 10th October from being referred as Moi Day. It will thus be referred to as Huduma Day

A further look onto this Huduma Day, Huduma to start with is a Swahili word which means service. Moi Day was a day mandated to honour Former President Daniel Toroitich arap Moi who succumbed earlier this year. CS Matiang'i was also responsible for changing 20th October from being Kenyatta Day to Mashujaa Day which was set to honour heroes

According to a statement by CS Matiang'i, Huduma Day which has so far been declared a public holiday will see Kenyans unite in prayers. This day will also entail service and volunteerism to the community. However, Kenyans have opted to blast this move. Others have stuck to refer the day as Moi Day whereas others are just bored that the holiday is on Saturday thus will not have any impact.
