The national Integrity and alliance wants political leaders inclusive of William Ruto's deputy presidential candidate, Hon. Rigathi Gachagua and Mombasa County Governor aspirant, Hon. Mike Sonko blocked from contesting in August 9th general elections.
Rigathi and Sonko were announced on Sunday 22nd May 2022 as part of this year’s National Integrity Alliance Red Card Campaign which aims to bar individuals with questionable integrity from being elected into public office in the August General Election.
Rigathi Gachagua and Mike Sonko join Kiringaga Governor Ann Waiguru, Malindi Member of Parliament Aisha Jumwa, Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino, former Nairobi Member of Parliament Evans Kidero and Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi who have all been flagged.
NIA said the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commision should not clear Rigathi Gachagua to run for the deputy president’s office because he is implicated in graft, resulting in action by the Assets and Recovery Authority freezing accounts with approximately 200 million Kenya shillings assets that are unexplained.
