Ruto has vowed that he will be on the ballot despite descending voices who are against his bid. He has in many instances said that he only banks on God the father and the people to ascend to the house on the hill.
The DP might rise above odds and become the president because of the following three main reasons:- First, He comes into the race with a united backyard that is behind his bid. The Rift Valley region is solidly behind the deputy president despite a few leaders like Gideon Moi showing interest in running for the top seat, the people are loyal to Ruto and they are likely to support him up to 90 percent of the population giving him a good headstart.
Secondly, William Ruto has been loyal to president Uhuru Kenyatta in the last two campaigns endearing him to the populous Mount Kenya region. The region for lack of a better option is likely to rally behind Ruto giving him a competitive advantage over his competitors.
Thirdly, The National Super Alliance-NASA is currently divided and with the ODM leader Hon Raila Odinga running separately against his former principals Hon Musalia Mudavadi of ANC, Hon Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka of Wiper, and Hon Wetangula of Ford Kenya weaken the 'opposition' giving Ruto an advantage.
Ruto has also made inroads on the perceived opposition strongholds like western and the coast making him have a national outlook and adding to his numbers.
What is your take on this, do you think the deputy president can rise above the odds and become the president after Uhuru even after confessing on live TV that there are many forces within government that are against him.
