Deputy President William Ruto's presidential bid was dealt with another big blow after he suffered heavy defeat in Machakos County by-election. United Democratic Alliance candidate, Urbanus Ngengele came second to Wiper's Agnes Kavindu Muthama.
The camp pointed out that the dismal performance in Machakos, Matungu and Kabuchai was due to 'wrong choice of candidates, false bravado and push-and-pull among allies of DP Ruto.' They have however come up with a new strategy that is set to popularize UDA in the country ahead of 2022 general elections.
Led by Soy MP Caleb Kositany, the MPs have identified different places countrywide where they are going to set offices as a way of grassroot mobilization strategy. The places include Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Trans Nzoia, Nandi, Baringo, Kericho and Bomet.
These structures will also be used for party elections that are set to be in April, May and June. Although, elected leaders won't be eligible for grassroot elections as stated by former Jubilee vice-chair.
According to Daily Nation, the party has renamed Elgon View offices to Hustler Centre North Rift Branch. It has also been branded with party colours (yellow) with two-year rent already paid in advance.
"Our minds are made up and focused. Our 2022 vehicle is UDA. We are done with Jubilee for now, we are putting things in order for UDA." Kositany said as quoted by the local news publication.
The same sentiments were echoed by Keiyo South MP, Daniel Rono, who added that the 'Hustler Narrative' will be prioritized and its supporters made to comprehend it.
