The news about Chepkut's hospitalization surfaced several days ago after a number of political leaders from Uasin Gishu County paid him a visit.
Among those who have visited Chepkut includes Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi and business Mogul Zedekiah Kiprop Bundotich alias Buzeki who is aspiring to be the next Governor of Uasin Gishu. UG Gubernatorial aspirant Veska Kangogo has also visted Chepkut.
But even as the controversial legislator continues receiving leaders from across political divides and his photos dressed in hospital garments shared widely, Kenyans are yet to know what is exactly ailing Mr Chepkut.
However, the reason why the first-time legislator is in hospital has finally been revealed.
According to Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, Chepkut recently was involved in an accident and in the process injured his legs and one of his arms.
The severity of his accident is not yet known. About a month ago, Chepkut was spotted limping while attending the burial of Moiben MP Silas Tiren's mother in Uasin Gishu. This left many of the county s=residents with questions on what had befell the humourous legislator.
Chepkut was elected in 2017 on an independent ticket and he has been among the few legisltors from the Rift Valley who had suggestively dumped William Ruto's camp.
However, Chepkut has maintained that he is fully behind DP William Ruto in 2022 and that he will be defending his Ainabkoi seat on a UDA ticket. He is expected to face off with one of Ruto's allies and former MP Samuel Chepkonga among others.
