The upcoming 2022 presidential election is getting tighter as the days continue elapsing. Infact, some politicians are now finding political heat quite unbearable. It is now becoming clear that the state house bid will be between Raila Odinga and the deputy president William Ruto.
Although it was presumed that it was hard to sell Raila in mount Kenya, things could be changing soon as he is steadily climbing the mountain. As seen from the campaigns, Raila has managed to attract mammoth crowds and will soon become unstoppable. Raila may have used the BBI to outsmart Ruto by trying to build the trust with the people of central Kenya as the larger part of the central Kenya were to benefit from the building bridges innitiative in terms of constituencies and others.
This may have been a factor in changing the mind of the Kikuyu's from the thinking that Raila was a bad man and had no plans for the region. Secondly, Ruto may regret branding raila the 'enemy of the people'. Ruto who has been calling Raila by names to make him to be seen as a bad person, may have been wrong all that long considering that Raila can now allure thousands in the region to his rallies, especially the youths who form the largest hunk of electorate.
Lastly, the mistake Ruto is making a mistake by self proclaiming himself as the gateway to mount Kenya. This is like saying that anyone who wants to engage with the Kikuyus must go through him. This is dangerous as it could be a blackmail naming yourself as a kingpin of the region.
