The Nairobi County Speaker Benson Mutura was on Wednesday 20th morning arrested by officers from the Department of Criminal Investigation.
Summons show that The speaker was arrested on grounds of theft in the City Hall.
He was arrested while in his office in City Hall building.

"I am conducting an investigation into an alleged …theft by servant. I have reasons to believe that you, Benson Mutura is connected to the offense or have information that may assist in the investigations," read the summon
However, Mutura says that his arrest is as a result of his support to the deputy president William Ruto.
The speaker recently led over 20 MCA from City hall to join Ruto's United Democratic Alliance Party. (UDA)
While addressing media after the failed arrest, Mutura said no amount of intimidation would make his change his mind.
"This morning while I was in the office, some officer came to arrest me without a summon and reason. What they did was in total contravention of the Nairobi County standing orders." Said Mutura
