A Twitter poll conducted by Dr. Boni Khalwale has revealed that the participants want Deputy President Ruto to pick his running mate from the Mt Kenya region. The poll attracted over 8000 participants.
Khalwale said that since according to him Ruto is the most likely candidate to win presidential elections next year, his next move would be to pick a running mate. He gave an option of four regions namely; Coast, Western, Mt Kenya, and none of the above.
Mt Kenya region topped the list with a score of 49.5%. This was followed by none of the above option with 22.5%. Western scored 20.5%, equating to less than half of the winner. The Coast region came last with 10.4%.
If William Ruto picks his running from the Mt Kenya region, it will be a repeat of the Jubilee Coalition in 2013 and 2017. However, Ruto seems to be enjoying more support from other regions than Jubilee did previously.
