Jomo Kenyatta Did not Steal Any Land: Sk Macharia

Mount Kenya Businessman and owner of Citizen Tv affiliated Royal Media Company Dr Sk Macharia has come out to defend the Kenyatta family against accusations that the family is among the families that benefited in the transfer of land from the British ownership when Kenya was attaining independence in 1963.

Addressing a group of business men from the mountain in a Raila Odinga meeting at Safari Park in Nairobi, Macharia admitted that he was tasked to transfer land from the whites to Africans. "Anyone with a question should come to me I take him/her to archives."

Macharia confirmed that land transfers have his signature and the of the late John Gakua.

"I was recruited from America by the government of Mzee Jomo Kenyatta in 1968 to come and work for the government," Macharia added.

The remarks are likely to ignite the land debate in Kenya that has for a long time determined political alienations in the country.

The meeting for the Mt Kenya Foundation businessmen was attended by George Muhoho, Edie Njoroge and four Governors.
