Ndegwa Njiru, one of the most vibrant constitutional lawyers in Kenya, has warned the Deputy President and his entire UDA team against underestimating President Uhuru Kenyatta in the hunt for huge support from Mount Kenya to 2022 general elections.
By comparing the political weights of the current two top politicians, that is between the ODM leader Raila Odinga and DP Ruto in Mount Kenya Region, it appears that DP Ruto still has the largest number of support, that is about 60% of the total voters on the ground.
On the other side, Raila who just started his campaigns recently has managed to get 30% of the region to his side and is yet to receive huge support from his handshake partner Uhuru Kenyatta who still happens to be the region's political heavyweight.
And for this region, the vocal lawyer is highly convinced that things are more likely to change especially for DP Ruto come 2022 since the region always votes as a block.
And with the influence of President Uhuru Kenyatta whom he feels is being underestimated by DP Ruto and his team, there is a higher possibility of him handing over the support of his people to handshake partner Raila Odinga by all means which include hitting the ground with him too to make him more popular in the region.
This will surely be a major blow to DP Ruto and a big boost to his top rival Raila when they get to face each other in the 2022 presidential election.
