Since independence, a lot of changes have been seen in the constitution, among them being the introduction of multi party system in 1992 which allowed the formation of more political parties towards the general elections, the introduction of the new constitution in 2010 which replaced the old constitution.
Another change which was in 2013 is devolution, more seats were created after devolution; women representative, gubernatorial seat, senatorial seat and Members of county Assembly seat. The people of Kajiado County voted in David Nkedianye as their first governor, he served them well and a lot of developments were seen during his time in rule.
In 2017, a lot of competition was experienced and finally Hon David Nkedianye was beaten up by the current governor Hon Joseph Ole Lenku.
As 2022 general elections comes close, a lot of people are showing up interest to contest the gubernatorial seat. A lot of competition will be seen as Kajiado South Mp; Hon Katoo Ole Metito has shown the interest to vie.
