"You Are Not Ripe For Presidency," Atwoli Tells Ruto

The COTU secretary General Francis Atwoli has said that the Deputy President William Samoei Ruto is not yet ripe to run for the presidential seat in 2022.

Atwoli has asked the Ruto to wait until the 2027 general elections to join the race of presidency. He has said that Ruto would lose at the ballot if he insists that he would take over the leadership mantle from President Uhuru Kenyatta in the 2022 elections.

However, according to Atwoli, if Ruto is elected, the country will lack peace and it will not have investors. He has also added by saying that Investors want to invest in a country where there is no corruption . He has also claimed that the country will not be the same again,"

The Cotu Secretary General has urged Ruto to stop the politics of pomposity. Atwoli, who has moved together with Jubilee Vice-Chairman David Murathe and other leaders to speartip campaigns aimed at bustling Ruto’s presidential bid.

However, he had charged that Ruto could not implicate to be willing to succeed Uhuru Kenyatta, who he had been absolutely battling. Atwoli also told the Deputy president to humble himself if he wants to run the country.

“A good leader does not complacence. He should have enough humility. You cannot attack those in office and expect people to respect you when you come to power,” he claimed.

At the same time, the COTU boss dismissed a report that the Building Bridges Initiative speartiped by Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga is about creation of positions. He also said that the aim of BBI is ending the post election violence.

He had said the country needed reforms in the constitution that would ensure that transitions are peaceful after every General Election.

Moreover, Atwoli, had teamed up with David Murathe and other leaders to speartip campaigns aimed at scuttling Ruto’s bid for presidency.

“BBI is not about who succeeds President Uhuru. If it goes through, it will create peace in this country. As a leader of COTU, i would enjoy to see someone who is peaceful take over the leadership of this country. We want a peaceful transition,” he said.

The Cotu Secretary General's home in Kajiado has become a place for 2022 political planning for leaders opposed to Ruto’s bid for presidency.
