Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya is the remaining with one and a half years to finish his second term as the first Governor of Kakamega county. He was elected on an ODM ticket. The governor is the former chairman of the Council of Governors(CoG). Oparanya will not be eligible to vie for the gubernatorial seat again because he will already have completed his two terms in office.
Several politicians from Kakamega county are hoping to to succeed Oparanya to become the next county chief. Some are even holding rallies in the county to seek the support of the residents. However, there is one leader who is likely to get the residents support and be elected by the electrolate. This leader is the current Kakamega senator Hon Cleopas Malala.
Malala was elected as the Senator in 2017 after he defeated former senator Bonny Khalwale. One of the factors that may see Malala becoming the county governor is if he gets an endorsement from the current governor.Wycliffe Oparanya is respected by Kakamega residents and his voice matters.
The other reason is Malala's hardwork. He has represented the people of Kakamega county in the Senate by pushing for more funds to be allocated in the county to fund development agendas. If he is able to convince the electrolate then he may become the next county head.
Do you think Malala is possible of being elected as the governor for Kakamega county?
