Prior to the general election on August 9, 2022, President William Ruto avoided traveling to the Luo Nyanza region, which is regarded as Raila Odinga's political stronghold.

The last time Ruto visited the area, he encountered hostility as locals threw stones at his motorcade.

President William Ruto was greeted by county officials from Homa Bay, including Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo.

The leaders had amicable exchanges with the president despite their fierce political competition.

Fast forward to January 13, when Ruto began his two-day working tour of the area by stopping in Homa Bay county. A portion of Kenyans are commenting about the hospitality shown to him by the local authorities.
