The walkout by Kenya Kwanza UDA side members has caused a stir in the assembly as the other members continued with the vetting process.
The Nairobi County Assembly has been divided in the past few months between UDA allied members and the former majority leader Abdi Guyo’s Team Nairobi.
The two sides have been at loggerheads over the vetting process of not just the county chief officers but also the MCAs and speaker.
The Thursday’s walkout was the first of its kind in the Nairobi county assembly where the minority side walked out on the majority.
The development has left many in the assembly shocked, wondering what could have caused the unexpected walkout.
The UDA allied side have however, justified their actions claiming that the nominee had not submitted all the paperwork as required.
The development comes at a time when the county assembly is trying to move forward after the divisions of the past few months.
It is not clear what the outcome of the walkout will be, but it is clear that it has left many in the assembly questioning the credibility of the whole process.
The assembly is yet to make any official comment on the matter, but it is expected that the situation will be addressed soon
