Supremacy battles between Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru and the area Kirinyaga woman rep Wangui Ngirici dominated during Ruto's Sunday visit in the county. Supporters of the two politicians have been clashing in various rallies in the full glare of the DP.
A dramatic scene unfolded in Kagumo town after youth chanted down the area governor when she was invited to make her speech. The youth who were donning on reflector jackets bearing Ngirici's name forced the governor to shorten her speech.
The residents were chanting pro Ngirici slogans causing some push and pull amongst the people in the crowd. However, Waiguru managed to make her sentiments amidst the noises where she urged the crowd to maintain peace.
Waiguru also affirmed her unwavering support to the deputy president and the UDA party. She asked her competitors to wait for the people to decide in the party nominations which she said that will be free and fair.
"Let's maintain peace. UDA party has no space for hooliganism. Let's campaign in harmony. Our party leader has assured of fair primaries. Whoever wins we shall support him/her," alluded the governor.
Earlier on, Ngirici suffered the same fate where she was heckled in Kianyaga town. The two leaders are eyeing for the Kirinyaga gubernatorial seat on a UDA party ticket.
