The Ministry of Petroleum and Mining Chief Administrative Secretary(CAS) Engineer John Mosonik has officially joined the political arena as the upcoming 2022 general elections and campaigns take over the country.
While addressing a function at his native Bomet county, the senior government official in President Uhuru's government declared his bid for the Bomet county gubernatorial bid. Eng Mosonik's entry into the already heated battlefield has sparked a fresh stir within Bomet as the politics over the lucrative seat were already at the climax.
Incumbent governor Hillary Barchok has been fighting for survival after his rivals led by Senator Christopher Langat merged forces in what appears to be a plot to send him home next year. On another hand former influential governor, Isaac Ruto is working on a path to take him back to his former office and has since declared a huge comeback. Isaac Ruto's political prowess will therefore be reckoned with.
While making his announcement in a video clip shared online, Mr Mosonik claimed that the people of Bomet have asked him to come back to his roots and serve them and further added that he is more than ready to resign from his current government job.
Governor Barchok on his part has dared anyone thinking that he would easily lose his seat to get out of dirty politics and get prepared to face him on the ballot.
The situation on the ground now indicates that just like in 2017, Bomet will host a bitter gubernatorial contest as the political titans who have shown interest in the county's most powerful seat will be spoiling for a duel.
