The rusty relationship between President Uhuru Kenyatta and DP Ruto has continued to drift, with President Kenyatta apparently rallying behind Raila Odinga, who appears to be an ardent opponent of DP Ruto, to succeed him in 2022.
Uhuru Kenyatta's family is working hard, according to State House sources close to the President, to guarantee that Raila Odinga defeats DP Ruto and becomes Kenya's fifth President.
According to the source, who requested anonymity, the Kenyatta family would not publicly support Raila Odinga, but would work behind the scenes to ensure that all preparations for Raila's presidency in 2022 go well.Raila Odinga is also said to have obtained clearance from Kenyatta's family because he has demonstrated his ability to unite Kenyans and protect Kenyatta's possessions.
Raila Odinga has already been spotted in meetings and campaigns with leaders close to President Uhuru Kenyatta, indicating that Uhuru is intent on ensuring Raila Odinga succeeds him as the next president.
