What Arap Mibei Used in Rift Valley to Refer to Raila Odinga Means and History Behind it

The famous name arap Mibei resurfaced today after Hon Raila's triumphant visit Eldoret in Rift Valley region. Netizens took to Twitter with an hash tag arap Mibei commenting about Raila Odinga's reception in DP Ruto's backyard.

The name is used in the communities residing in Rift Valley region to refer to a man from the lake who is honoured with great reputation. The name has alot of historical background dating back to 2007 election when the ODM party Leader received alot of support from the people of the Rift.

He was babtised the name by elders from the region during a one week ceremony that was witnessed by many people from the rift. The title "Arap" is used to refer to a man of his dignity. The country's Deputy President William Samoei Ruto was among the leaders who witnessed his grand recognition by Kalenjin elders during that time before he was accorded the title.
