New claims regarding the presidential results continue to be directed towards Juliana Cherera, the vice-Chairperson of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), as well as commissioners Irene Masit, Francis Wanderi, and Justus Nyang'aya.
Marjan Hussein Marjan, the IEBC's chief executive officer, gave testimony before Aggrey Muchelule's tribunal regarding the steps he and IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati made in response to Cherera and his team's attempt to have the presidential election in Bomas, Kenya, rerun.
Marjan revealed that Raila Odinga and William Ruto's "Cherera four," made up of four dissident IEBC commissioners, wanted a repeat election since they were separated by 233,000 votes.
The moment Juliana and her group had the chance, they sped to the Serena Hotel to declare the presidential results "opaque" and rejected them. Chebukati reportedly responded right away by vowing not to tamper with the outcomes in any manner.
He explained to the tribunal that the issue was that only 233,000 votes were cast and that they ought to be given a second chance to participate in the election. The tribunal will meet again from January 23 to the 27.
Masit is the only member of the IEBC's "Cherera Four" who has not yet resigned.
